Summary: Under general supervision, monitors, operates, and maintains company network and information systems. Performs first-line support for service interruptions caused by any misconfigured or malfunctioning network device or information system. Escalates unresolved problems when necessary. Upgrades, configures, and replaces network and server hardware and software. Performs system backup and recovery activities. May assist with desktop and printer support. May provide user orientation on new features affecting the end-user.
Essential Functions:
- Configuration and installation of switches, routers, wireless devices, and firewall/security appliances.
- Configuration and installation of Microsoft Windows servers running file and print services, IIS web server, and Microsoft SQL DB.
- Configuration and installation of Linux servers running Apache, Nginx, Postgres, Bind, Postfix, and other core services.
- A strong knowledge of TCP/IP OSI model and protocols.
- Experience with VMWare hypervisor and tools.
- Experienced in performing troubleshooting techniques for resolving system and network issues.
- Ability to record/update tickets in the Service Ticketing tool and keep team updated with status in collaboration tool.
- Ability to analyze monitoring, filtering, event log and Syslog monitoring data to assist with recommendations, incident response, and problem resolution.
- Experience with running network cabling and punching down patch panels.
- Ability to rack or rack or de-rack network and system hardware.
- Ability to seek solutions to problems using one's own resources.
- The ability to provide on-call support as directed and to work some weekends and nights.
General qualifications:
- High school degree required, some college in field preferred.
- Must have a minimum of one year of experience with network and system administration.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Asterisk based phone system and IP telephones.
- Administration experience on AIX UNIX.
- Experience using Windows automation tools.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory.
- Experience working with Office 365 services.
- Configuration and use of network OSS management systems and tools.
