Director of Operations and Sales

We are looking for a detail-minded business leader to manage the operations and service aspects of our distribution company, from point of sale and order processing to shipment delivery. A performance-driven person who possesses a passion for delivering service, operational excellence, and efficiency is who we need. The Director of Operations and Sales position oversees operations in our 200,000 sq foot Distribution Center, the Customer Service Call Center, and is the direct Supervisor of the Outside Sales Team. This role has 5 direct reports and over 200 indirect reports. The primary goal of this position is to ensure that all areas are operating efficiently and within budget, consistently seeking ways to reduce costs, and maximize customer relations, and sales opportunities. The director reports to the Vice President and frequently works with the President/Owner of the company. Someone who is strong in using performance analytics and is fact based and logical in their thinking will work great within our team. Primary Responsibilities: • Provide leadership in the whole customer experience from product presentation, to the placement of orders, to the delivery of the product. • Oversee the overall accuracy, productivity, and efficiency in the distribution, customer service, and outside sales departments to ensure that operational objectives are met. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance performance, accuracy, efficiency, and service levels. • Develop, communicate and enforce department KPI’s, goals, and performance benchmarks for each department and coaching senior managers to achieve their goals. • Provide leadership to Customer Service Management by directing payroll scheduling parameters, resolving customer conflicts, and ensuring the ongoing training and development of service personnel to deliver fast and knowledgeable service to customers. • Monitor spending and adherence to budgets within operational cost centers. Annually negotiate costs and contracts. Identify cost-savings ideas within areas of responsibility to reduce operation expenses. • Encourage and support a team environment. Create, foster & maintain an environment of cross-department collaboration, knowledge sharing / learning, and support. • Traffic Management: develop and maintain distribution procedures and negotiate trucking carrier rates to maximize delivery efficiency at the lowest costs. Responsible to determine rate break points between carriers based on shipment loads and annually provide routing instructions to all venders for inbound shipments; Requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Related Field. • 10+ years of Operations, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and/or Purchasing Leadership. Proven history of progressive promotion and career development. • Must be able to prioritize and demonstrate an ability to change priorities when the situation requires. Must be able to handle variations in workload and have the ability to make independent decisions quickly. • Must have a professional and helpful manner. Must have excellent verbal, written and listening skills, communicating clearly and concisely with the ability to work with all levels of employees, vendors and customers. • Supervision of large sized teams required. Supervision over multiple teams is preferred. • Ability to periodically travel within the United States.
